Elders Quorum Social ~ Jeopardy...

The hubbs and I attended an Elders Quorum Social at our Church this past weekend. We gathered with other couples and divided into 3 teams and played a game of jeopardy.
The categories were Home Teaching, Visiting Teaching, Scriptures and 2 Personal categories (we filled out a 5 question paper when we go there with stuff about us).

It was a fun night out... we laughed and laughed, some of the personal stuff was really funny. And one of the questions in HT was the title of one of the last 3 months lessons and no one could remember them... hmmmmm. Hey, we were not there in teaching mode, we were there to have fun and eat... plus, it was late!

The food was really good... desserts (how can you go wrong with that)!

Allot less scary than the pig at the last EQ Function.

The teenager LOVES little kids, so it is a real treat not a chore for him to come and work in the nursery. It's all new toys for him to play with, as you can see. There were lots of little kids...

And babies too! As a matter of fact, we were noticing how we don't really fit in the middle of this young crowd. We are way at the other end of the spectrum... the "oldler, wiser" spectrum (yeah that's it).

When we sat back and did some calculations... we are the oldest couple in the group.

By like almost 15 Years!!!!

Yikes!!!!

But as you can see my Strong Silent Mysterious Man loves the babies and had one at his feet googling at and making faces and funny noises, while he ate. So maybe it is to prepare us for Grandparent hood or something?

Ooooppps! I was in zoom mode... up the nose.

Here we go.... a good time was had by all!

We had a fun night out and really appreciate the church activities (and especially those that plan them and put them together) that allow us to have these dates out together with other couples. It keeps us off the streets at night, and out of potential trouble!

Hair today... Gone Tomorrow...

I was so excited for my hair appointment to finally get here...
I was getting to the end of my rope, and when everyday starts feeling like a bad hair day... I knew it was time to do something!
My thoughts were all over the place this week, about what to do with my hair.
Trim, color, hack?? I had gone the full gamut of emotions and ideas...
I finally decided, not to decide.
Katie is awesome! She knows me really well, she is up to date on trends, and always knows what looks good on me, and more importantly what FEELS good to me.
I think a good haircut should feel good!
I trust her with my head!

Yes, even after I saw nearly 7 INCHES gone... (I didn't even realize I had that much up there).

As always... she pulled through with flying colors.... edgy, stylish,

but totally feels like "a new me".

I hope I never ever lose her, she is the best therapist in the world... I feel like I left all those winter blues on the floor of her shop!

Thanks Katie!!!

The best neighbors, the best chocolate...

We have the best neighbors!
It is so hard because you don't get to chose your neighbors, so we feel so blessed to have so many good ones. They watch over us, our home, our son, and our animals on a regular basis! They are the best!
One neighbor brought this box of Lindor chocolate truffle balls by Lindt for getting her mail for a couple of weeks. How did she know these are my very very favorite chocolate?
These have caused me to turn my nose up at other chocolates when they don't compare... can you imagine! They are just that good! It really wasn't difficult to cover her mail, I was outside getting mine anyway, so I felt a little guilty... but I love these sooo much, I couldn't resist!
One time she brought us a Pizza Hut gift card for helping her with her sprinklers... she is so thoughtful! And if I didn't know better, I would think she had been peeking into the windows of our home... pizza and chocolate! How well does she know us!!!!
It really is a great feeling to be close enough to our neighbors to do things for each other and not just the passing by waves, but people who really care!

Archery Season begins on a good note...

Archery season is starting up...

Our family signed up for an indoor competition archery shoot, to get warmed up for the upcoming season. Shooting indoors at these close ranges is not as challenging as it is trying to figure longer yardages. So that is why I would say it was a good "warm up".
I hadn't picked up my bow since last July or so... I was pretty rusty.

It has been such a fun sport for us to do as a family... the teenager is very competitive, so it is fun to mess with his head.

Not to say my strong silent mysterious Man is not super competitive... don't mess with him, when he is in his "zone".

This shoot was different for me because they had some moving targets, like this turkey that moved in a circle... one shot was to his chest in the front and the next shot was on one of his sides and you had to pull, set and shoot both arrows before he made a complete circle.

I take lots of time lining up and getting set and focusing before I release an arrow, so this proved to be very challenging for me. But I hit him!

At the indoor range, all 30 targets are very very close together with trees and bushes and other targets to shoot through. For some reason shooting around and through things doesn't intimidate me as much as shooting at something moving, so I was okay with this aspect... bring it on!
The Hubbs offered to shoot next to me, so that he could help me figure out yardages, or confirm where the kill zone was on certain animals (since he had some binaculars). But when we got ready to shoot at our first target, I looked over and he was half way across the range... in his "zone" and not even going to help me. I panicked at first and didn't want to have to think for myself. But when I realized I was on my own, I just had to step up to the plate and figure it out by myself.

I was irritated at first, kind of miffed actually, and then decided I could actually do this and I didn't have anything to lose. And this helped build my confidence to a much higher level. It was really good for me.

At the end of the day, I took 1st place in the women's division WAHOO!! (well don't be too impressed, there were only 4 women all day)... it didn't' matter, I would have been just as thrilled with 1st if I was the only one! I was really happy to get past some of my nerves to get a good score. I only missed one target all day... not sure how, it was a big black bear standing on his hind legs (I have a thing about bears... maybe subconsciously I just couldn't kill him :)

Something funny, at the beginning we made a deal together that the loser would buy dinner... but at the end of the day when they found out I got first prize winnings, they made me buy dinner.... somehow we are going to have to get things in writing next time. Boys!

In the end a good time was had by all!

Tag... I'm am it!

I was not a member of the LDS Church. My teenager was 5 years old. My husband and I bowled on a league every Saturday night and had to beg to get our son back from his grandparents who kept him while we went out (sometimes they were stubborn and we couldn't get him until Sunday night).

5 Things on my list to do today...
1. Meeting with a client 8am.
2. Clean my kitchen.
3. Pay the utility bill.
4. Take the teenager to golf tryouts after school.

5. Get a really late collection letter approved from a client, so it can be mailed.

Snacks I enjoy...
Chips, salsa and cream cheese, oranges sliced in wedges, good chocolate, hot chocolate, All Bran crackers and laughing cow cheese, spinach dip, sherbet...

3 Bad Habits...
1. putting my fingers in my mouth (according to my hubbs)
2. whining about my weight
3. yelling to get my point across, when I don't feel like I am heard

5 Place I have lived...
1. Simpsonville, SC
2. Atlanta, GA
3. Omaha, NE
4. Kent, Buckley, Enumclaw WA
5. Boise, ID

5 Jobs I have had...
1. Accounting office for Candy Store (can't remember the name... not See's)
2. KMD Inc. Family owned transportation and warehousing company -you name it, I did it.
3. Bremmeyer Logging - Office Manager
4. Pacific Distribution - Warehousing and Transportation CEO
5. Self employed bookkeeper and Stay at home mom.

5 Things you don't know about me...
1.

2.
3.

4.
5.
you don't know them for a reason... I am embarrassed, it's a secret, you might not like me, they are released on a need to know basis, or I just couldn't think of anything.

If I suddenly had a million dollars...
I would be really really afraid! It probably means I was gambling and won (how else would I suddenly come into a million?)... and I can't pay tithing on those winnings, which means I wouldn't have any blessings from them... which would be a horrible curse!

I would look like that couple in Georgia who just one the lottery... the curse of the lottery definitely looks like it hit them already.... she was grinning from ear to ear talking about her new car she was going to buy, and he looked dazed and confused.

While it sounds all wonderful not to have any debt... I think it is what keeps me in line. Working to pay it off.

I am tagging Lindsey, Hailey (you have to give me the link to your blog when you do this), and Pattsy D.

Schools out...

No school again on Friday, so I had the teenager with me all day... yippee!
He was right on track asking me all kinds of questions I couldn't answer and filling my head up with thoughts that tend to float around in his head, that I don't need to worry about... but end up stressing over... because he dumped it in my head!!! ARRRGGGGG!!!!!

We got more snow... which meant he lost more driving time... which leaves more time to pick on me... I will give him an A+ in this department... he has it down to a science now.

He can't be trusted when I am taking the self portrait...

But I have a few tricks up my sleeve too....

He thought we were waiting to take the picture when in fact I had the video rolling to catch him in the act.... See I am smarter than a 5th Grader.

But he acts like he should still be in the 5th Grade!

He makes me a crazy Mom, but he is really funny, fun to be around (most of the time) and he makes me laugh (when I am able to let my hair down and fall for his jokes).

I think everyone should have a teenager or three!
