A mans best friend...

I saw this the other day driving down the road... and it just made me chuckle!
It is sooo "Idaho" to me... the man in his pick up truck, with his best friend by his side.
.
Driving for his monthly trip off the farm, into town. He probably waves to everyone who passes him along the way, weather he knows them or not. He is in no big hurry to get where he is going, probably to pick up some chicken feed, rope, and a new pair of wranglers. And the dog probably walks right into the store with him and where the store calls him by name and has a treat waiting for him, knowing which day he will be visiting, as he never breaks routine and comes on the same day each month.
.
Yep, a mans best friend... you just can't beat a day like this.

Uncle Fred's visit...

Yesterday Uncle Fred came to visit again, he goes back home on Wed.... less than a week away... time is just flying by us. This time I had my camera handy. Although all the pictures turned out fuzzy and under exposed... it's just been a busy crazy week and everything seemed to turn out this way.
.
Jim has been working all the time, they are so swamped at work, he can't seem to get away much, and so he is tired and discouraged and not having very good days... so I didn't know if we would be on our own when Uncle Fred arrived, or if he would be joining us at some point.
.
So we visited a little before we made any decisions waiting to see if we would hear from Jim. Uncle Fred is so good with our dogs... we let them come out and visit with him for a little while, until Taylor wore out her welcome and had to go back in her kennel. (later in the evening, she decided it was better to mind and stay out with us on her blanket, than it was to do things "her way" and get sent to her room. So it was nice to have her be part of the family while we had company for a change.

A dog in each hand... as long as he kept petting them, they were plenty happy!

We were teasing that Rudy was being so sociable, he might have to go back home with Uncle Fred. But that received a resounding NO! Then we suggested he could drop him off at Mom and Dad's in St. George on his way through... Mom loves Rudy; but we were pretty sure, Dad would promptly load him in the car upon his arrival for a spontaneous road trip, and drive him all the way back to Caldwell! he he he... Dad loves dogs, but just doesn't feel the need to own one anymore.

Even this cute face wouldn't make it in the door.

(we were laughing because normally he hibernates under a blanket around here and only comes out for treats, potty breaks, dinner, and occasionally to run outside and chase a kitty out of the yard... but when Uncle Fred is here, he comes out and is social the entire time... I think he is even smiling in this picture... what a knuckle head!)

We finally got a call from Jim, he was leaving work... so he took us out to dinner.

Good Wood BBQ, one of our very favorite places to eat ribs.

We weren't disappointed this time either.

It was a great visit with Uncle Fred, we hope to get to see him on Saturday for a family picnic before he leaves to go back home.

Caldwell Farmers Market...

This week we finally made it back to the little farmers market.
.
When we arrived, it was already under way, and the City Mayor was singing up a tune on the mock stage under an awning on the grass in the background.
.
And all the vendors were putting the final touches on their booths, selling everything from their farms and gardens, to cute sewing and stained glass crafts, to homemade tamales and food from some of the local restaurants.
.
I just picked up a couple of tomato plants for .25 and a big glass of fresh squeezed limeade, and put our names in a drawing for a basket of goodies they build each week from a collection of items from every vendor at the market.
.
To my surprise, this week my friend Janice called me later that night, and she had won the basket! A really good time was had by all!!! So fun!!!
I love the local farmers market!!

The 1st Job Interview...

Jacob has been so blessed to have enough work to earn money each summer with his a window cleaning business he started a few years back... and the job at the golf course last year gave him some different responsibilities and experiences.
Before now, we hadn't pushed much for him to have any more of a full time job, because we really wanted him to focus on school during the year, and he had so many wonderful scouting adventures going on during the summers, he could just fit those jobs around his outings and it really worked out fine.
But this summer, he is pursuing more job opportunities, so that he can fill in funds around his window cleaning and really put his money away for his mission.

So he reluctantly let me take his picture on the way out the door for his first semi official job interview (it was more a pre-job screening).

After he reluctantly let me talk him into wearing a tie (he was just going in to fill out a pile of papers, and take some of their aptitude tests, not really interviewing with anyone in person... but from my experience, you never know who might see you... and you should always make your best impression... plus it's just a respect thing for me... so he wore the tie).

Another first to add to my memories! I hope someday I can't frame this beside a picture of him making his 1st milli0n!!

In reality it would be ideal for him to be in a career he is happy and enjoys, that can sustain him and hopefully a family one day. He is all over the board with his career dreams, so it should be an interesting ride!
