Dedication...

I dedicate the words to this song to My Happy Girl friend... have fun, you WILL be great, be good and safe on your trip for this next grad school interview.
"Go Big Red"!!

It's On
by Superchick

It all comes down to this
You take your best shot, might miss
You take it anyway
You're gonna make your move today
Got the will, you'll find the way
To change the world someday
Grab this moment before it's gone
Today's your day

It's on and on
Today's your day
So c'mon bring it on

And the view will never change
Unless you decide to change it
Don't feel like it today
Just show up anyway
And though life will take you down
It only matters if you let it
Get up, go through, press on
Today's your day

It's on and on
Today's your day
So c'mon bring it on

And though you wanna quit
don't think you can't get through this
you've come too far to walk away
it's not gonna be today.
and no mater how you feel
it's what you do that matters
this is your moment to be strong
today's your day

It's on and on
Today's your day
So c'mon bring it on

"Nice Car"...

I told Jim since I have been driving the new car around more,
it feels like people are looking and gaulking at it all the time.
It really stands out in such a small kind of farm-ish town.
There just aren't too many sports type cars around.
I really can't hide and it's kind of embarrassing for me at times.

He really wasn't listening to me.
So when I was following behind a slow bus, I noticed the kids in the back of the bus making hand signals which often happens... those kids will do anything to get some attention, and way in the back of the bus, they can usually get away with it.  But usually they are quite negative, even raunchy!  So I might be found ignoring them most of the time.
Well this time, I glanced up and saw four of them in unison giving me thumbs up...  and making the "heart" shaped symbol with their hands and pointing at me.
So I began to pay attention and gave a thumbs up back to them, while we were stopped at a light.
Hoping once I acknowledged them, they would quit... I got the message, cute, but kind of embarrassing.
And I wanted it to stop as to end on a good note and not turn into something naughty after I had acknowledged them.
But then they held up this sign.
So I grabbed my camera from the seat beside me (still stopped at the red light) and snapped the shot.... which finally ended this odd communication with them high five'ing each other and breaking out in laughter.  LOL, so funny!

(Nice Car)
So if you are trying to get the kids in the back of the bus to quit trying to communicate with you.. just take their picture... they love it!

weather(dot)com...

I hear thunder and lightning soooo loud, shaking the house.
I had to go out and see what the comotion was (I know, probably not very smart to run out in a lighting storm) and found this crazy hail!

What is going on?  Weirdest weather!
Seriously it was like 60 degrees yesterday :)

I am sooo grateful to be home and safe and warm!

Snow (hey oh)...

I looked outside a little while ago and it was snowing...
after being in a t-shirt yesterday, that was a weird site.
 Now it's snowing more....
And it's starting to stick to everything...
Wow!  This better not mess up my plans to go see my family this weekend.
Hmpft!

Self Portraits...

Some fun self portraits the past two weeks!

Katie... and the haircut,
(aaaahhhh!  life is good right after a haircut).
Al (I never call her that... but it's cute right?)
my partner in crime in visiting teaching.
My strong silent mysterious man and a date night (alone this time).
And "smilie" my friend Susan, we rode together to a class she introduced me to; that I LOVE (I will have to post about it someday, wonderful!!!)... I see myself in her so much, I really relate to her... and I think we could talk for hours on end.

Biggest Loser...

At Jim's work, they started a "Biggest Loser" competition in January.  Everyone put in a nominal fee to join in, and the company is putting up some big $$ for the winners in a few categories like individual and they are paired up and doing a biggest loser couple $ Prize too.
.
They wouldn't let spouses join in, and so I was surprised that Jim got in on it.  But it wouldn't kill him to drop a few pounds in the mid section.  But it would be cool for some of the prize money to find it's way to our house.

So at home I forget he is on a "diet" because his version of dieting is drinking 3 soda's instead of 4; or having only 1 plate of spaghetti and garlic Texas toast covered in butter instead of 2 1/2; or even just one bowl of ice cream instead of 2... so it's kind of hard to remember he is dieting, you see.  I really don't mean to be discounting his efforts or sabotaging any of his hard work.

But for Valentines Day I had made these chocolate lava cakes for him and Jacob (who is NOT on a diet and LOVES, LOVES, LOVES chocolate) and the batch made 4 small cakes... so he ate one on Monday (reluctantly because weigh in is on Tuesday mornings) and took the second one to work with him on Tuesday to enjoy after weigh in.

So an email emerged with this photo and caption that was sent to all his employees and co-workers that are in on the Biggest Loser competition.

The title of the email was
"Busted with double chocolate mousse and cream"
Contestants,  See attached photo.  Much like Jerry, Jim is taking his liberties and eating whatever he likes, as his partner Ted is one of the top weight losers.  I feel sorry for you Ted.  Well at least you can compete for the individual competition.  Your partner looks like he is going to let you down.

Then Jim's reply to the harassing email...
Hold everything! Let’s let the facts speak for themselves that could have diet stuff (note:  LOL.. the whipped cream smothering the cake was fat free so Jim figures he was being good, ha ha ha) and Ted has no reason to doubt his partner as I did lose 1 lb this week and 4 lbs overall. And let’s be honest for a man in my incredible condition (he means at his age) I don’t really need to lose that much. And as a wise man once said "we shall see what we shall see".
The funny thing is, they will probably be eating their words... he can starve himself for 2 days before the final weight in and probably drop the size of a person.  It's sickening and totally misses the point of the program to "GET HEALTHY"... but he did tell me this morning not to buy any  more soda, he was going to try and drink more water!!  What?? Wow, that would be a HUGE change for him.

His rationalization is that Jacob needs to wean off of the soda too before his mission.  They did stop for a month or so before and during the handcart trek last summer, so I am confident they can do it again!

"We shall see, what we shall see".

Family togetherness...

How many times do you sacrafice just to have the family together?

I seem to make sacrafices quite often being out numbered by boys at my house.
I remember eating way more Mexican food and Subway (their fav's) than Chinese food (one of my favs).
Compromise, or sacrafice... that's debatable.
I remember enduring Chuck E. Cheese, total sacrafice there.
Well this wasn't really a sacrafice, but I agreed to make our family time together this weekend on the golf course (the sacrafice is because I don't golf).  But I do enjoy the time to play with my camera, and I enjoy walking the course and getting out in the sunshine.  And family time... well is it always worth it!

So they played and I tried to capture the moments (smile).

Two of the teenagers "signature" moments... the fist check with a "boom" sound effect followed by "yeah baby" Exsuberently!!!
That means he nailed a shot, and usually means he is winning.
His next signature move... is some kind of measuring tactic to align his stroke with the hole (which by the way you can't see on the other end of the course where you are aiming, this baffles me) just before he tee's off.  Cute, but yeah, it makes no sense to me, but seems to work for him.  I could see it in a game of pool, but at over 250 yards, how accurate could this be??  Again, it works for him... so I deemed it a signature move... he does it all the time and I constantly hold back a giggle when he does it (cause there is some unwritten rule about talking or giggling during their back stroke that I am always goofing up on).

I managed to capture allot of consentration shots.
And somehow I always knew who was ahead, even though there was no score card in sight.

But, as in life... (and like my Papa used to say) "The sun don't shine on the same dog, all the time" (or something like that... said in a deep southern accent).
And the same can be said for golf... even in the same game, on the same day... from one hole to the next.  The tables turn so quickly!

Somehow we managed to all have a really good time!
Priceless time with my boys!

(p.s. both boys were immediately put under the clippers after I download and looked at these pictures... wow, scruffy!)
