More crash em up drama...

Well the good news... the visit to the orthopedic doctor went well.
Doc is a golfer... so he could sympathize with the teenager, and wanted to avoid the dreaded cast!

So he got a new splint... and Doc was nice enough to explain to me that it was a fancy "3 point pressure" splint, that would put pressure on the joint equally and keep it in place as well as a cast would.
... and that the teenager could get right back to his golf game! Yes, first things first of course. This is his xray... all four of the other knuckle joints go up smoothly into the joint... but that last one on the left jags out and that is where it is broken. It's often called a boxers break. (the teenager liked that it had a cool name, it was much easier to explain)
Oh and the bad news... the insurance company hasn't released the car yet, so in order to avoid having to sell our teenager to pay for the storage charges, we had to bring it to our house... yes, for real, here it is, and yes, he is dumping it in my driveway!!!!

fancy "3 point splint" $112
doctor visit $150
towing and storage bill $430
cast (avoided) $500
smunched toyota $3,500

Teenager Safe and in our arms... PRICELESS!!!
(really, I have hugged him everyday and it is AWESOME, I hope I never ever take that for granted!!!!)
.
(However, Mom is definitely going to need a massage and pedicure when this is all over with!)

Oh my gosh- it sounded like it was the other person's fault- did they have insurance??

I'm so glad jake is okay, and he can play golf- bonus!!

Yes, they have insurance... we are just waiting to find out if they will take full responsibility or not; since it was an uncontrolled intersection.

On the police report He had "control of the intersection", and she failed to yeild... but my insurance guru says even though it seems cut and dry; they could try and pull out all the tricks before it's over.

We are crossing our fingers.

You could X Ray your hand and compare fingers. I, too, thank God everyday.
