Scout Camp Preparation...

I try to be very supportive of Jim in is calling as Scout Master. I learned very early on there is a fine between being supportive and wanting to do it for him.
Let's face it our wonderful husbands do things totally different from us, and for me at times it can be very frustrating just watching him get something done, much less doing it with him, by his side. But I have learned when I am able to stand back and watch, and trust his guideance, as painful as it is, he always get's the job done and I have to admit it usually doesn't produce much different results as if I would have done it myself.
Next week he is taking his scouts on a week long scout camp. Now for the past months, I have also been planning a week long camp for the young women in our Stake at Laurels camp. Let me tell you, our planning techniques are sooooo different. I was thinking of all the activities, spiritual lessons and menu planning we have been working on for the girls ~ and I asked Jim one day last week about his list for his menu.... he says "we will go pick up the food next Saturday". There was no list, or menu... nothing.
So last night I remind him that the stores are much busier on Saturday than during the week, so he says okay, let's go shopping. In the car on the way to Costco, he says to me "do you have a pencil and paper to jot some things down for me?" Here we go making the list. I was soooo worried, and kept thinking about these young boys and their appetites, would Jim have enough food for them for a whole week without running out.
After 2 1/2 hours of shopping and going to all the different stores to get just the right items. We were driving home and he was planning in his head outloud how he was going to pack the coolers with each days meals so they wouldn't have to open the coolers all the time and they would stay cold until the last day. He was going over with Jacob in the back seat which merrit badges he was supposed to be teaching and what he wanted the boys to be working on. He called and lined up spritual lessons for the bishopric to give when they came up later in the week.
I had this overwhelming change of heart from frazzled, fearful, unbelieving, untrusting, to complete peace, trust, and a feeling these boys are going to have a great time!
I will have to learn to let go of some of my nature to plan and control everything to the inth degree and to trust Jim's instincs and allow him to recieve and use his own divine intervention.
It has been quit a process with Scout camp preparation, but this morning I woke up and feel really good about it.
So next week, Jacob and Jim are at scout camp and I am home alone. The following week, Jacob goes on a 50 mile hike with his Venture Scouts, and Jim and I are home alone. And the week after that, I am gone for a week at Laurels Camp, and Jim and Jacob are home alone (I hope they don't forget to water my flowers :)
I'm off to pick apricots at the church farm orchard. Happy Saturday!
